ABOUT OUR

FOUNDER

At the pinnacle of his career, Grind Athletics Founder Tyler Mitzel earned recognition as a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins, celebrated by Baseball America for possessing the best change-up in Minor League Baseball's High-A division in 2021. His journey to professional success is a testament to relentless dedication, hard work, and a passion for the game.

Tyler’s baseball story began in high school, where he played for four years, culminating in a state championship victory in 2013. He then advanced to junior college in Chanute, Kansas, where his team achieved the number-one ranking nationally for two consecutive years.

Continuing his baseball career, Tyler transferred to Arkansas State University for his junior season before joining Augustana University for his senior year in 2017-2018. At Augustana, he tied the record for most single-season wins as a starting pitcher, earned all-conference and all-region honors, and played a pivotal role in securing the first baseball national championship for the university. His performance at the D2 College World Series earned him the title of World Series MVP.

Tyler signed with the Miami Marlins as a free agent in 2018, embarking on a professional career that spanned through 2023 spring training. Along the way, he captured a AA championship with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2022. Today, Tyler’s journey from state champion to Minor League Baseball pitcher inspires the athletes he trains, embodying the belief that perseverance and passion can turn dreams into reality.
